Nowadays, ropes course is more and more popular worldwide, considering it’s suitable for too many sites. For the moment, there are main two kinds of ropes course structures: steel structure and wood structure, and obviously, the former one is chosen by most people.

We are well aware that steel is not generally as aesthetically pleasing as wood. However steel is much more versatile than timber in the Ropes Course context – and has a number of tremendous advantages:

1. Provided that it is galvanized, or properly maintained, it will last twice as long as timber – probably 3 or 4 times as long because it’s anti-corrosion, resistant to fatigue, and with larger breaking force etc.

2. It can be easily repaired, altered or modified. With the light weight, it’s easier to transport.

3. It is not subject to infestations or woodpecker attack

4. It does not rot like wood.

5. It is structurally far stronger than wooden poles and steel cable

Honestly speaking, steel structured ropes course does have the initial dis-advantage that it is initially more expensive than timber – but this is easily overridden by the long term value.
